Lego Batman Birthday Bonanza!

As a mom of two young boys, the majority of my life involves Lego’s in some capacity.  It is because of this love of Lego’s that it came as no surprise to me when my five year requested a Lego Batman Birthday party.  Not just Batman, not just Lego’s, but BATMAN LEGO’S.  Since we live in Florida where the weather is great year round, we celebrated at a local park.  Parks are not only a affordable, but they keep the mess out of your house!  Additionally, I find that their playgrounds are usually all the entertainment we need.

The first order of business in planning a party for a five year old, is planning the games.  If you don’t have a way to keep the kids entertained then all your plans will be for nothing because chaos will take over.  Follow the standard K.I.S.S rule (Keep it simple stupid) for the best results.  I kept it about as simple as it could get with Lego play, time on the playground and an egg hunt.  I know, Easter eggs are not exactly the first game that comes to mind for a fall birthday party.  All I can say is that my five-year-old knows exactly what he wants and is not willing to compromise.  Anyone with a five year old will probably tell you the same!

Lego play took place in “Maddex’s Batcave”, aka a camping tent boasting a fun sign.  Inside the Batcave was an inflatable kiddie pool filled with Legos for kids to create and build.  The added bonus of the Lego Batcave is that it provided a shady place for kids to gather as guests arrived. 

After a bit of pizza and snacks the kids were ready to get their crazies out!  We hiked over to the nearby playground to let the kids go nuts while the adults hid all of our blue Easter eggs around the shelter.  When the kids came back they were sent on an egg hunt with their customized goody bags.  The goody bags were a hit with kids and adults alike, and couldn’t have been easier to pull off.  All I had to do was peel the label off and stick it right on a black gift back.  The glory of these labels is that they will work on just about anything.  In fact, my older son used a leftover label on his shirt so he’d be fully festive.

Finally, it was time for cake.  This basic 8″ round cake was made to look like the bat symbol seen throughout the party.  Accompanying cupcakes were given a similar treatment with homemade cupcake toppers.Lastly, you have to wash down your sweet bite with water from a stylish water bottle!  Water bottle labels are so simple and easy!  They are the perfect way to add the final punch to your decor, and I promise, they will always spark conversation.  These labels can be customized and purchased here.   The final and most important tip for hosting your child’s birthday party is to ENJOY YOURSELF!  Sometimes the amount of work that goes into pulling a party off is just the thing that keeps you from enjoying your own shindig.  Let your guests help themselves and remember not to let the moment pass you by!
